Flinders Criminology

Photo Competition

At Flinders Criminology, we study the causes of and responses to crime and deviance. We offer world class teaching and research that critically asks why people or organisations (and governments) commit crimes and how societies respond to them, including debates about how we seek to prevent or reduce their impacts and consequences, which has traditionally meant the use of various forms of punishment.

To better engage with and respond to contemporary crime and justice issues, we want to know more about your understanding of crime, and so pose the question "what does criminal justice look like to you?"

TO ENTER:

1) Take and upload a photo that captures what criminal justice looks like to you or how it is presented in your community.
2) Write a short blurb about your photo – telling us about its context and what it depicts.

Photos might capture the following themes:
  • Perceptions or representations of the reality of crime
  • Victims and victimisation
  • Access to criminal justice services
  • Notions of place and space
  • Influences of culture on understandings of crime and/or justice
  • Crime prevention
  • Policing and law enforcement
  • Causes of crime
  • Consequences of crime
  • Legal and criminal justice institutions (e.g., police, courts, prisons)
  • Or anything that presents your understanding of crime.

Your photo and blurb will be judged by a panel of local criminal justice stakeholders, and you will be eligible to win a Coles Gift Card.

Prizes will be awarded by the judges for the winning entry ($350) and a runner-up ($150), in each of two categories: for both individual and group submissions.
