End-of-Life Essentials - Evaluation of Education Resources
Description of the study
You have indicated that you would like more information about the study as someone who has used the resources in End-of-Life Essentials to provide training. Before you decide to take part, it is important that you understand why the research is being done, what it will involve, and what will happen to the data you provide.
Purpose of the study: We would like to understand how educators and those involved in training healthcare professionals use the resources provided by End-of-Life Essentials. The study aims to understand which resources have been used and how they have been used and how they might be improved.
Benefits of the study Sharing your experiences via a phone interview will guide End-of-Life Essentials resource development and assist in improving the education modules to make them more relevant and effective. These improvements will be available to you through the online education and may also benefit other health professionals accessing the modules and resources. Development of efficient and effective online education for health professionals contributes to the overall aim of the End-of-Life Essentials project, to improve the safety and quality of end-of-life care for people in hospitals.
Participant involvement and potential risks If you agree to take part in the research, you will be asked to commit to participating in a phone interview (10-20 minutes duration) at a time of your choosing. The aim of the phone interview is discuss the projects resources. Participation is entirely voluntary.
Withdrawal Rights It is your decision if you wish to take part. If you decide to participate, you will be asked to agree to participate at the bottom of this page and provide an email address so that the study investigators can contact you about setting up an interview time. We will confirm your continued voluntary participation via email prior to setting up an interview. If at any time during the interview, you feel uncomfortable and/or wish to withdraw your participation, please inform the study investigator. A decision to withdraw from the study, or a decision to not participate, will not affect you in any way. If you do not want your data to be included, you must tell the study investigator when withdrawing from the project. You do not need to give a reason for this. Withdrawal will have no impact on your ability to access End-of-Life Essentials modules or other resources. Participating in this project will not impact on your current or future employment at any institution or Flinders University.
Data Collection and Storage Interview responses will be recoded using a translation to text service called Otter.ai. Data will be held on the Otter.ai database, which is located in the United States, for approximately 72 hours and will be deleted once the transcription is checked. No private information will be collected about you. The transcription of your interview will be held by the Flinders University in accordance with the University’s data management requirements. The data will be securely stored for 5 years. It will then be safely destroyed.
Ethics Committee Approval The project has been approved by Flinders University’s Human Research Ethics Committee (Project No: 7934).
