The Power of Parents Consumer Advisory Panel – Expression of Interest

Researchers from the National Centre for Education and Training on Addiction at Flinders University are seeking parent-adolescent pairs to join a new consumer advisory panel. This is an exciting opportunity to meaningfully contribute to research on co-designing health communications aimed at reducing adolescent drinking.

About the Project
The 'Power of Parents' project focuses on developing effective health communication strategies that empower parents to support their adolescents in making healthy choices regarding alcohol. Your involvement will help shape the direction and impact of this important research.

Who We're Looking For
We are looking for Adelaide-based parent-adolescent pairs where the adolescent is aged between 12 and 17 years. Both parents and adolescents will have the chance to share their perspectives and experiences, contributing to the development of tailored health communication strategies.

What You'll Do
Members of the Consumer Advisory Panel will:
  • Discuss new research ideas: Share your thoughts and insights to help us refine research questions and approaches.
  • Co-Design health communications: Work with the research team to develop and test health communication materials.
  • Review research documentation: Provide feedback on grant applications, study protocols, and other research-related documents.
  • Disseminate findings: Help us spread the word about our research findings and their implications for the community.

Commitments
  • Meetings: Consumer Advisory Panel meetings will likely be held quarterly, and more often when required.
  • Timeframe: We are seeking participants who are open to being involved initially until end of 2025, with the possibility of an extension.

Reimbursement
We value your time and contributions. Reimbursement is available for preparation and meeting attendance at a rate of $35 per hour.
